Theater that stimulates the imagination and doesn’t need a bombastic set to create atmosphere. Sensitive acting that brings to life the atmospheric language of a great writer. – Dorothea Marcus, WDR5

With the purely digital version, the fringe ensemble was already able to enthuse the audience at the beginning of the year. Now the team is restaging the play for the theater. At the same time, the possibility to watch live online remains. And there remains the fascination for the haunting text, the wonderful translation and the convincing ensemble with Julia Goldberg and Konstantin Lindhorst.

The story is told by the outsider Mattis. He lives in a cabin by the lake with his sister Hege, who runs the household and takes care of him. Mattis is known in the village as Dussel, has retreated into a childlike inner world and feels connected to the nature all around. He is particularly attracted to woodcocks, whose springtime courtship flight he sees as a sign, a promise he cannot decipher.
