An international ensemble – an encounter between Germans and Latvians. The attempt of a rapprochement – a failure, a happiness. The whole as a ritual of remembering, the attempt to assure oneself in the moment of approaching the other.
Cechov himself speaks of a comedy, the production relies on the absurdity of the original, finds the playful, twisted in the text and thus comes very close to the author.

The production joint venture fringe ensemble/phoenix5 realizes its second German-Latvian cooperation after Fiction Impossible (2005). This time the partner is Valmieras Dramas teatris, 120 km northeast of the metropolis of Riga in the interior of Latvia. Two countries, two different theater structures realize a joint project.

Supported by the City of Münster, the Minister President of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, the City of Bonn, the Kunststiftung NRW, among others.
