“The ground drags, love flies.”
A red carpet, an almost empty stage, a movable wall “covered with drawings of faces, houses, guns or cars from the collective memory chambers” (choices), and two actors who draw the audience into the lives of the protagonists through the power of language – ANZIEHUNGSKRÄFTE relies on the power of imagination and the pull of a purely and cleverly told, very touching story: 4.000 km apart, Şêrîn and Ferhad set out on a long journey on the same day without knowing each other: She to return to where she was born, he to leave war and destruction behind. Their paths cross in Istanbul. They fall in love. But they will not be dissuaded from their goals.
The Kurdish author Mirza Metin has already conducted a series of interviews with Kurds living in Germany last year. They told him about their life in Germany and their relationship to their origins. These stories have been incorporated into his commissioned work for the fringe ensemble. The result is a piece of contemporary history.
A production of fringe ensemble/Turkey GbR in co-production with Şermola Perfomans, Istanbul. Sponsored by: Federal City of Bonn, Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations.
