Frank Heuel

A production of fringe ensemble and Schaubühne Lindenfels in cooperation with theaterimballsaal Bonn.

GESCHICHTEN+DAS STÜCK tells about life in Germany. This is based on the idea of letting people tell stories. To witness them as they try to understand themselves and the world. We would like to thank everyone who willingly shared their story(s) with us. The texts created during the storytelling are full of vividness and drama and form the basis for the play.

I need therapy or a lottery win.

Enmity is bad, you can settle everything.

When that comes out, all hell breaks loose. So it was like this…

I refuse to have dreams.

A person who is not embarrassed by anything has no secrets.

“…Geschichten+”, which uses the same interview process to negotiate six life stories between Germany East and Germany West, also breaks the linearity of the life narratives by constantly alternating between choral and solo speaking. Small tics and gestures take on a life of their own, creating a curious subtext of bodies. The tragic shimmers in the joints between the fragments of biography, all the more haunting because it is not on display. It’s this loving gaze, never imagining itself smarter than the characters or we the audience, that the fringe uses to draw attention to the fractures in its own life narrative.”
