n Schiller’s drama is about loyalty and betrayal, about freedom within and outside society, about love and lost love. In the stories from their lives that people between Bonn and Leipzig have told the ensemble, these themes play a role again in completely different contexts. Frank Heuel assembles the drama with the stories of an innkeeper, a forester, a former frontiersman, a beekeeper, a prostitute, an asparagus farmer and a baker and creates a tense theatrical journey between Schiller’s fiction and the reality of the Federal Republic.
The material was collected by the actors, who went on a research trip before rehearsals began, accompanied by the director and a film team – from West to East, from Bonn to Leipzig. With DIE RÄUBER, Frank Heuel and his ensemble bring together and continue their work with semi-documentary theater forms, with dramatic material beyond a classical character psychology and the use of other media – a journey through fiction and reality.
